William "Bill" Brown

William (Bill) Brown, 92, of Smithville, TX, died Friday March 19, 2021. He was born May 11, 1928 in Oklahoma City.

He was the son of Joe Brown and Laura Beatrice Oates. He was a senior building inspector for the city of Austin for 17 years. He was united in marriage to Carlene Branum on October 10, 1975. He shared 45 years with the woman he adored. He was baptized on September 25,1977 at First Baptist church. He later joined Rosanky Baptist church. He was a servant for the Lord. He preached at Smithville nursing home for 20 years. He loved sharing the word of the Bible with family and friends. In his first bible he had highlighted John 13:3: “ And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also”.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Carlene Brown; 2 kids, Larry Brown and Carolyn Hakulin. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.

William is preceded in death by his parents,  Joe Brown and Laura Oats; as well as his brother, Ted Brown; sister, Sue Sump; and his son, Gary Brown.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 3:00pm-7:00pm in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 10:00am in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home followed by interment in Fairview Cemetery.
