Shirley Young

Shirley J. Young arrived at his heavenly home on May 17, 2021 after 85 years on earth. Shirley was born August 16,1935 to Artie and Jurd Young at the family farm in Garza county near Grassland, Texas. Shirley graduated from Post High School,  and in 1953 married Margie Laine Mowell of Lamesa, Texas. They moved to Midland where Shirley began a career with the Midland Police Department before having a daughter, Tamara Beamon of Woodland, Washington, and son John Young (Sandra) of Bastrop,  Texas,. Shirley was a devout Christian and a member of the Lost Pines Church of Christ in Bastrop, Tx.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, and wife Margie of 62 years.   He is survived by six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, James Bailey who was like a son to him,  and many friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lost Pines Nursing Home in Bastrop for their kindness and care over the last 10 years.  Also, our thanks to Gracia Hospice for their impeccable care they provided during his last days.
