Mildred Graham

August 26, 1940 — January 29, 2021

Bastrop

Mildred Jennett Graham, 80, of Bastrop, Texas, passed into her heavenly life on Friday, January 29, 2021, with her daughters by her side.  She was born in Crawford, Tennessee, on August 26, 1940.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Ileen Hargis Van Horn, and her husband of 56 years, Edward Jacob Graham.  She is survived by her sons Michael, Kenneth and Darryl, daughters Sheila Gonzales and Lisa Morris (Steve); grandchildren Julia Johnson (Brent), Jaime Brandon Gonzales (Jessica), Charles Graham and Allyson Ileen Johnson (Quentin); great grandchildren Jeremy Johnson, Inez Perez, Jacob Gonzales and Brian Johnson; sister Connie Illy; aunt Daisy Garrett; numerous nieces and nephews and her friends of over 50 years, John and Dottie Lancaster.

Jennett was a devoted wife and mother and supported her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force during which they traveled and lived throughout the United States.  It was during those years they met many lifelong friends. Her greatest joys came from spending holidays, birthdays and special occasions with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and making enough pies so that everyone was sent home with one of their own. She was best known for her delicious potato salad and chocolate sheet cake.

In 2001, she and Edward began their life on the road visiting old friends, making new ones and exploring the United States and Canada.  They made seven trips to Alaska between 1989 and 2009.  When they were not at home in Bastrop, they enjoyed their social life with friends in Trinity, Texas.  They spent many hours helping the Knights of Columbus serving their fellow man.

2016 was their last year on the road enjoying their travels.  They enjoyed spending their summers along the Mississippi River watching the barges move up and down the river and every moment they spent together.  Jennett will be greatly missed by her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
