Mark Jerome Goertz, 89, of Rockne, TX passed away early Monday morning, March 22, 2021. He was born on December 5, 1931 to Rudolph and Hettie Goertz of Red Rock, TX.
Mark married the love of his life Barbara Goertz on January 4, 1955. They were married for 66 wonderful years and blessed with 10 children: Monica Kadura (husband Glenn), Michael Goertz (wife Kathy), Jeffrey Goertz (wife Pat), Michelle Klaus (husband Russell), Bridget Wolf (husband Ronnie), Brian Goertz (wife Lisa), Paulette Goertz (husband Lester), Keith Goertz (Javier Espino), Eric Goertz (Jennie Justice) and Mark Randall Goertz (Amber Capehart).
Mark was extremely proud of his family and loved them so much; he would never fail to let them know with a big grin, hug and an “I love you”. Mark was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, attending mass every day and graciously serving the church through various ministries. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life including managing a local dairy and working for the Highway Department, but his greatest passion was farming and cattle ranching. He faithfully took his cattle to the Lockhart Livestock auction on Thursdays (and could always be found wearing their cap). Mark was constantly active and loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed working his land and cattle, helping his kids and grandkids with projects around their homes and running any piece of equipment. Mark was known for always putting God and his family first.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Rev. MSGR Alois Goertz, Irene Goertz, Helen Frerich, Sister Lucille Goertz, and Ann Bibb.
He is survived by his loving family members including his wife Barbara, his siblings Rev. MSGR Victor Goertz, Sister Mary Rose Goertz, Marcella Muehr (husband Roger), Bernadette Beck, Elmer Goertz and William Goertz (wife Patsy), his 10 children, 28 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
His easy smile, warm hugs and humble nature will be missed.
