Linda Turner

Linda B. Turner, 79, born November 14, 1941, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 of lung disease complications at St. David’s South, Austin, Texas.

Linda was born in Spokane, Washington, daughter of Harold W. Sorte and Virginia B. Low. She graduated from North Central High School, Spokane. She attended Pacific Lutheran College in Tacoma, Washington.

In 1960, Linda married Gene Darcey and resided in Seattle, Washington and later in Millington, Tennessee. They had three children. They were divorced in 1980.  Linda moved back to Seattle in 1982 and then to Portland, Oregon in 1983. She married Keith Turner in 1983 and they moved to Vancouver, Washington where she worked and retired from Bridgestone Tire.  After Keith’s passing in 2001, she returned to Millington, Tennessee while there she worked for Comfort Keepers Elderly Care.  In 2013 she married Harold Thompson and in 2017 they moved to Kingsport, Tennessee. After Harold’s passing in 2020, she moved to Bastrop, Texas to be closer to family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Gordon Darcey, and two brothers-in-law, Charles Stites and James Phillips.

She is survived by two daughters and daughter-in-law:

Melanie (Christopher) Shaw, Bastrop, Texas

Granddaughter Avera Candace (John) Foster, DeKalb, Texas

Leta Donohue, Ridgecrest, California

Grandsons Ryan (Tabitha) Donohue, Tacoma, Washington

Kyle (Alexandria) Donohue, Ridgecrest, California

Debbie Darcey, Arlington, Tennessee

Grandson Dalton Darcey, Memphis, Tennessee

Step-grandson Chance (Amber) Nolen, Ellisville, Mississippi

Step-granddaughter Amber Nolen, Memphis, Tennessee

And four great-grandchildren.

She’s also survived by her siblings, Joyce Stites, Michael Sorte, Eric (Donna) Sorte, all of Spokane, Washington, Claire Phillips, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and multiple nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to the ASPCA.

A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be scheduled at a later date.
