Kimberly Olson

April 12, 1970 — December 6, 2021

Bastrop, Texas

Kimberly Olson, age 51, passed away on December 6, 2021, at her residence in Bastrop, Texas after many years of dialysis and multiple other medical issues. She was born on April 12,  1970 in Houston Texas.

Kimberly is survived by her son, Jonathon Riley Graham; her father and step-mother, Dale and Peggy Olson; her two brothers, Michael (Mindy) and Kenneth Olson; three nephews, Jacob, Marcus and Lane; two nieces, Leah and Caitlin; and two great nephews. Other close relatives were her Aunt June and her cousin Phyllis.

Kim was predeceased by her mother, Cathy Cartwright, who died when Kim was 13; her grandparents, Philip and Irene Olson, Ewing and Gracie Cartwright; four uncles, James, Leslie, Donald, Earl Olson; and a cousin, Christopher Lankford.

Kim attended public schools in Elgin and Bastrop, attended Houston Baptist College and later in life received a Bachelor’s  degree from LeTourneau University taking mostly online courses. Her goal was to work with special needs children but she was never physically able to do this. She did, however, when able, volunteer with the Boy Scouts as a chaplain. Kim took part in medical trials, and fundraisers were held for kidney transplant costs, but her medical condition continued to be too fragile to receive a transplant. No one was ever a stranger for long around Kim. She enjoyed meeting people  and especially enjoyed long telephone conversations. Kim had a special knack for remembering birthdays and ages which was rather amazing. Writing spiritual songs and singing in the choir made her happy. Hobbies included making bead jewelry, especially crosses, which she would give as gifts. She loved reading Christian fiction and historical Christian fiction. Her favorite author was Karen Kingsbury. Reading the Bible was a daily practice, and she engaged in Bible studies with others or by herself. Kim cherished her son and loved spending time with him, other family members and two friends, Yvonne and Peggy, whom she had known for years.

Kim went to dialysis three days a week for years and the other week days were filled with medical appointments and frequent hospitalizations. It was a testament to her strong faith in God that she could endure all of this with an upbeat disposition and a smile on her face.

In memory of Kim, donations may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation P O Bx 871847 Kansas City Mo 64187, or a charity of your choice.
