Elvira Norment

July 27, 1935 — July 6, 2022

Bastrop

Elvira Mildred Norment of Bastrop Texas, went to be with our Lord Jesus on July 6, 2022 at the age of 86 surrounded by her loved ones.

Elvira was born July 27, 1935  to Anton and Gertrude Beck in Rockne, TX. Elvira was raised and attended school in Rockne and then moved to Bastrop. She had five children and devoted her life to raising her children, being a homemaker and being steadfast in her faith.

Elvira was a vital part of the Bastrop community, she was known for her garage sales, she also loved a good garage sale. She was especially known for her famous pecan pies and extravagant and beautiful Christmas light displays that lit up Main Street.

Anyone who has ever had the honor of knowing Elvira knew her love of fishing, her love of being outdoors listening to the birds sing, she took pride in her gardening and loved to pour her heart and soul into cooking and baking for all her family and friends. She always had a special interest in her birds and chickens. She enjoyed many evenings playing dominoes with her friends. She had a beautiful talent for sewing, quilting, woodworking and a love for sharing her talents and passing on traditions with everyone she knew.  She loved the holidays and you could always find her home with an abundance of decorations especially at Christmas.  Elvira was never short for words and never met a stranger. She was the definition of kind and generous to everyone, even people she had just met. If you knew her, you knew unconditional love, a heart of pure gold and what it meant to be a true giver.  She didn’t have much but what she had she was always willing to share with others.  Many family and friends were blessed to have been gifted with her good food (especially her dressing), her pies and cakes.  If you ever received a pecan pie then you already know.

Elvira is survived by her loving companion and partner of 23 years, Toby Diaz; Daughters; Pam Andrade of Crosby, TX, Wanda Rucker and husband, Johnny of Bastrop, TX, Sherry Wright and husband, Tracy of Hutto, TX; Daughter in law; Linda Osborn of Bastrop, TX. Her Sisters; Generosa Lowden, Bernadette Beck. Brother; Merle Beck.

Elvira was preceded in death by her loving sons, Dale C. Osborn and Ted L. Osborn; Parents, Gertrude and Anton Beck; Sister, Myrtle Wilhelm; Brothers, Patrick Beck and Leroy Beck; Granddaughter, Tonya Rucker; husband, Don Norment.

Our mom and grandma was infectious just like a beautiful candle lit at a Christmas Eve service, she was the candle that lit us all and kept us going. Her flame was passed on to all of us and the world is a much brighter place because of it. “We love you, you know we do”

The Bible states that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7) and that Jesus taught it is better to give then receive (Acts 20:35). Elvira truly lived this everyday of her life.
