Elaine Ely

September 14, 1944 — September 4, 2021

Elaine Renee Crawford Ely, 76, of Cedar Creek, TX, went to live in her heavenly home, with the Lord, on September 4th, 2021. She was born on September 14th, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, PA, a daughter of the late Denver and Merna Allen Craig. Elaine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. My mother was a great example to me. During my childhood, we would visit nursing homes as a family to read Scripture and sing. She worked and supported my dad as he went to seminary and Bible college. She taught me how to sew and made us matching dresses when I was young. Her grandchildren will always remember her for her godly wisdom, unconditional love, and great sense of humor. Prior to her retirement, Elaine worked at Mailwell Envelope in Phoenix as a Proofreader. Later, she was also employed as a caregiver for the elderly. Elaine was a long-time resident of Arizona before moving to Texas in April 2021.  She was a member of Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church for over 30 years with her first husband, and then a member of Grace Bible in Sun City, AZ for over 10 years with her second husband. She loved to listen to hymns, read the Bible, and was always studying something. I know she is in heaven with the Savior that she loved, getting her questions answered!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart of 37 years, David Lee Crawford, and her second husband of 14 years, Richard Mount Ely, and her grandson-in-law, John Self.
She is survived by her only daughter Darlene Benoit, and husband Jim; stepchildren by her second marriage, Launa Sprouls, Carol Ann Nelson, Bonnie Simpson, Renee Williams, and Heather Burton; her 12 grandchildren, all from Texas; Rebekah Caka and husband Travis, Hannah Self Pressoir and husband Drew, Mark Benoit and wife Katie, Paul Benoit and wife Brittany, Sarah Fotovich and husband Daniel, Daniel Benoit, Joel Benoit, Benjamin Benoit, Elisabeth Haiker and husband Joshua, Thomas Benoit, Abigail Benoit, and John Benoit; her two sisters, Janice Collins and husband Scott from Connellsville, PA, and Carol Bowers and husband Paul, from Tom's River, New Jersey; and her sister-in-law Linda Kridle and husband Bernie of Scottdale, PA. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Elaine at High Pointe Baptist Church in Austin, Texas on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Fiel Ministries, a ministry close to Elaine's heart. Donations can be sent to Christian Literature Advance, P.O. Box 4645, Greenville, SC 29608.
