David Gonzales

David Vela Gonzales Sr., 84, of Bastrop TX was relocated to heaven on January 18, 2021.

David was born in Bastrop on October 9, 1936 to Bartolo and Refugia Gonzales of Bastrop, TX.

David is survived by his wife Merze Gonzales; five sons Ernest, David Jr., Frank, Johnny, and Ralph Gonzales; eight daughters, Mary Cortez, Irene Calvillo, Rachel Adair, Nancy Gonzales, Judy Gonzales, Mary Shaw, Sylvia Ocañas, and Dolores Tovar. David is also survived by brothers Bartolo Jr, Frank, Andres, and Joe.

David retired from the Bastrop Independent School District as a cabinet maker. David loved to laugh, tell jokes, make funny "selfie" faces, family gatherings, address his granddaughters as "hey boy", and was an avid pool player leaving behind many 1st place trophies. David joins both parents, Bartolo and Refugio, sister Dolores Gonzales, and grandparents. Although he will be missed, we can rest in knowing that he is enjoying his time with our Lord.
