Dan Starling

Dan Alexander Starling, 81 years old, passed away on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Dan was born to the late Lottie (Townson) and Roy Starling on May 10, 1939 in Austin Texas.

Dan’s favorite pastime was Bass Fishing. He was a favored member of Bastrop County Bass Club for many years. If Dan couldn’t make it opening day to a Texas Lake Opening, he would be there shortly thereafter. Dan graduated from Travis High School in 1957 and went to University of Texas in Austin. He founded and managed Ranger Welding & Construction until being sidelined by a stroke in 1991. He continued fishing and managed a Backhoe business in Bastrop County until his health forced retirement in 2016. Dan made Bastrop his home for 49 years.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Starling; son, Glendon Rhodes; brother, Don R. Starling & wife Sunny. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Children by a former marriage: son, Dan A. Starling Jr; son, Timothy Shawn Starling; daughter, Tammy Lynn Starling

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by son, Roy Abram Starling; Sister, Berteil Kroger and sister, Peggy Lott.

There will be a private, family celebration of Dan’s life at the Fairview Cemetery, (weather permitting).
