Cruz Burnham

November 16, 1990 — September 29, 2019

Smithville

Cruz Burnham loved the outdoors. He loved to fish but wouldn't eat the fish. He loved animals and brought home strays frequently.  As a child, when he was taken to visit with nursing home residents, he would carefully choose to visit with the person he thought needed him the most. Cruz was a talented artist, extremely intelligent and enjoyed reading John Grisham mysteries.

Cruz, unfortunately, had been in a horrendous battle with drug addiction.  We had no doubt he would eventually beat it.  It was something he was working to accomplish. He really wanted to be able to be a good father to Alissa, whom he loved immensely.  His life was taken too soon for him to accomplish his goal.

Cruz is survived by his beautiful sweet daughter, Alissa; his parents, Stanley and Monica; his brothers, Chad and Chase; his sister-in-law, Nikki; his niece, Bella; nephew, Ryan; his grandparents, Melba, Jim and Jackie; and several extended family.  He will be missed by all.

Cruz - you were loved and will be in our hearts forever.

To honor Cruz's life a BBQ will be held at Lake Bastrop North Shore Pavilion from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, October 12, 2019. The pavilion is located at 603 FM 1441 in Bastrop, Texas.  Lunch will be provided by his family.  Please dress as if you were coming to go fishing with Cruz.
