June 1, 1938 — June 7, 2021

Bastrop, Texas

Connie Ellen Brown, a loving mother and grandmother, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away on June 7, 2021, at the age of 83. Connie was born on June 1, 1938 in Doniphan, Missouri. She was a loving daughter of Paul Leonard White and Hattie Irene White.

Connie graduated from Fredericktown High School. She was united in marriage to Anthony (Tony) Mechura on August 30, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri. Together, they were blessed with two children: Kevin and Kelley. Following a divorce, Connie enjoyed being a loving, single mother, raising Kevin and Kelley in California.

Connie began the next chapter of her life when she met another wonderful man, Clayton Brown. They were married on June 8, 1969. Together, they shared a combined family of five children.

Together as a family, they enjoyed weekend trips on the Colorado River in Arizona, where they went boating and skiing. During the week, they would go bowling with their friends in the bowling league. The family would also pack-up the camper, take trips, and go on hunting adventures. Although Connie worked outside of the home, she continued to provide her family with fresh, home-cooked meals most every night.

In 1978, Connie, Clay, and Kelley moved to a 93 acre farm in Bois D’arc, Missouri. There, Connie worked in Springfield, Missouri, while enjoying gardening, canning, & sewing at home. Realizing that the farm life was not for them, Connie and Clay decided to sell the farm and end their marriage. Connie then moved to Springfield, and spent a lot of time with her two sisters, whom she dearly loved.

In 2005, Connie moved to Bastrop, Texas, to be closer to Kelley, Mitchell, and her grandkids. In Bastrop, Connie enjoyed participating in small town festivities, including pridefully entering her blue El Camino into the Veteran's Day car show. She also loved being outside on her deck, watching and feeding the deer, and attending New Life in Christ Church in Cedar Creek, Texas.Connie greatly loved her dogs, especially Whoopi. Due to the advanced stages of Alzhiemer’s, Connie spent her last days in the nursing home, where they all loved her.

Connie was proceeded in death by her mother, Hattie Irene White; father, Paul Leonard White; brother, Tom L. White of Desoto, Missouri; and sister, Mary Linda Tripp Dark of Springfield, Missouri.
