Calvin "Cal" Cunningham

January 10, 1957 ~ October 19, 2022 (age 65)

Obituary

Calvin "Cal" Cunningham went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

Cal graduated from Licking Valley High School, Class of ’76. He had a passion for mechanics and driving. He joined the Army shortly after high school doing just that for the 93rd  Infantry Brigade. He honorably served for ten and a half years.

Following his time in the military he continued to be a driving mechanic or a mechanic on wheels. He drove for many of the big-name companies, BFI, Republic Services, Texas Disposal Services (TDS), Gray Line Bus Tours, and Kerrville Bus Company. He enjoyed this combination and was talented enough that he ended up a safety coordinator for Texas Disposal Services. He was also a firefighter with the Bastrop Fire Department and a Mason.

When Cal wasn’t at work, he enjoyed dancing, riding his motorcycle with his CVMA group, playing his guitar whether it be in a small group or with his brother and sister, of course tinkering with any engine, working with horses and hunting; once in a while he like to sit back and throw a line in the water.

At the end of the day  once again in his own way Cal came to know the Lord. He is now at home with the Lord.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen Jo and Forest Cunningham; and niece Mandie Cunningham.

Cal is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Tammy Cunningham; children, Christina Witherspoon (T.J.), Candice Cunningham, Kasie Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Chad Johnson, Terry Robertson, Justin Cunningham; 12 Grandchildren, Chad, Jr., John, Richard, Kimberly, Jason, Talayzha, Mandy, Macey, Lily, Hazel, Chloe, Vincent; brother, Mike Cunningham (Kandie); sister, Kelley Hadlock (Doug) and many extended family and friends.
