"Bump" Leo Edward Gaertner, Iii

“Bump” Leo Edward Gaertner III passed away at the age of 27 on October 30, 2022 in his home in Cedar Creek.

Bump was born on July 24, 1995 in San Antonio, Texas with a genetic disorder known as 22q11 deletion (DiGeorge’s Syndrome), but he never let that define him. A photographer at heart, he shared the beauty he saw in this world with others. Bump worked as Head DMO at his father’s restaurant and was loved by all. He loved music (especially Imagine Dragons), Doctor Who (“Bowties are cool”), and reading (#mockingjay, #gryffindor4ever).

Bump is preceded in death by his grandparents: Lorraine Brown, Missy Thomas, and David Calhoun.

He is survived by his parents: Leo Jr and MIchelle Gaertner, Tande Babb and Chris Smarzik; and his brothers: Michael Gaertner, Jason Gaertner, and Darius Keeffe. Additionally, Bump is survived by a great many aunts, uncles, cousins, and 8 grandparents: Leo Sr and Jan Gaertner, Doug and Sandy Babb, William “Junnie” Brown, Lois Calhoun, and Billy and Linda Davenport.

The family invites you to join in the celebration of Bump’s life on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home  at 505 Old Austin Highway in Bastrop, Texas.

Family and friends will gather from 12:00pm to 1:00pm and the celebration will begin at 1:00pm.

Attire for the service is casual and colorful, Bump's favorite color was blue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the 22q Family Foundation.
