Beverly Bryant

April 10, 1948 — November 6, 2022

Bastrop

Our dear mother, Beverly Bryant was born April 10, 1948 and passed away on November 6, 2022, at the age of 74. Born in Stamford, Texas, she moved to Bastrop in 1978 where she became a surrogate mom to all of our friends. We’ve been touched by the many messages fondly recalling cups of coffee and conversations at Ballard’s Grocery during the years she spent as manager.

She was devoted to her children, working multiple jobs and long hours to provide us with everything we needed.  She never once complained of 16-hour days, and she did it all with a smile.  In the early 1990s, she reunited with and remarried the love of her life, Jack Bryant, and they spent 16 happy years together before his death.  They demonstrated love, commitment and perseverance and were an example to those around them.

Our mother faced life’s challenges boldly and with an upbeat attitude, qualities that drew others close to her, and she continued with courage even when a stroke left her paralyzed and changed her life significantly in 2011.  A testament to what was important to her, she was able to clearly articulate the words “I love you” in spite of struggling to communicate otherwise.  Through it all, she managed to laugh and joke with her family and make the best of tough situations.

She was a well-loved member of the community and will be forever missed.

She was preceded by our devoted father, Jack Bryant, sister, Gloria Herring and is survived by her mother Ruth Miller Gladden, brother John Miller, daughter Pamela Bryant Travis, son Jack Bryant, and grandchildren Christopher, Patricia, Daniel, Dylan, Hailey, and great grandchildren Ryan, Carissa, Travis, Cayden, Jack, Troy, Olivia, Layla, Ashton, Lane, Hensley.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church of Bastrop, 1201 Main St, Bastrop, TX 78602 at Noon on Saturday December 10th, 2022.  All who knew her are welcome. Bring your favorite memory of Beverly to tell us.
