Arthur Joe " Aj " Woehl, Jr.

Arthur Joe Woehl, Jr. "AJ", passed away January 3, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born on March 3, 1930 in Bastrop, Texas. He was delivered at home by Dr. Gordon Bryson at the family home for  $25.00 to Arthur Joe Woehl Sr. and Gladys Faye Turner Woehl. He had three sisters: Dorothy Woehl Claiborne, Maureen Faye Woehl Johnston and Mary Jo Woehl Higgins. Brothers: Jerry Turner Woehl and Bobby Franklin Woehl. He had several nieces and nephews.

AJ married the love of his life, Norma Shirley Lampros Woehl on March 24, 1951.

AJ is survived by; daughters, Pam Salinas and her husband Daniel, Pat Seyfried and her husband Wilson, and Val Woehl; grandsons, Jason White and his wife Sue and their children, Jacee and Jaden,  Carey White and his wife Sylvia and their daughter, Danielle, Cory White and his wife Katy and their daughters, Hannah and Emily, Brandon Salinas and his wife Michele and their son, Beau, Keith Fulcher and his wife Kerstin and their daughters, Kimberly and Katie; his only granddaughter, Tracy Myers and her husband Jason and their daughters, Hattie and Millie; Michael Seyfried.

AJ Worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for 24 years. He started his career with the Texas Highway Patrol but later transferred to the Drivers License Division. Once in this division he was promoted to Sergeant and later Lieutenant.  His first duty station was in San Antonio, then transfers took him to Harlingen, Wichita Falls, and back to Harlingen, Texas.

AJ was active in community affairs over the years. He was an elder in the First Christian Church for many years; president of the Harlingen Rotary Club; involved with United Way, helped with the Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, drove the church school bus and taught Sunday School.

He was a member of the Scottish Rite and Masonic Lodge for over 60 years.

After retirement from the DPS, he bought into an insurance agency and other businesses. He loved spending time on his weekends remodeling old homes and was one of the original house flippers.

He and Nana would take the grandchildren camping to Huntsville State Park for many many years.

AJ was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.



Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2023  from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.   The funeral service will be Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10:00am at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home with burial following at Fairview Cemetery.
