La Grange

Arnold Glenn Essler, 78, of Cedar Creek, Texas, was called home to the Lord on September 24, 2020. Arnold was born on April 10, 1942, in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Jean Essler; Son, Jerry Wayne Essler; daughter-in-law, Janet Lynn Essler; Granddaughters, Rachel Marie Essler and Annette Christine Essler, and her Fiancé, Michael Curtis Achay; Brother-in-Law, Joe Bob Chapman; Sister-in-Law, Pam Chapman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Essler, and mother Lorine H. Essler.

He graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1960 and carried his education to Texas A&M, where he was a member of the fighting Aggie Baseball team.

He was an active member of the Cedar Creek United Methodist Church and the Cedar Creek Cemetery Association for over 42 years.

Professionally he was well known and respected in the Austin and Central Texas area for his 42 years of leadership and expertise in the irrigation and water well businesses.

Arnold enjoyed taking multiple trips to Disney World including the Disney camp site Fort Wilderness, RV camping trips with the Trinity Travelers, spending time with his granddaughters, son, and daughter-in-law, who he loved dearly. He loved to serve the BBQ at Fall and Spring Church Festivals every year.

He will be remembered for enthusiasm and wit that touched the hearts of all that knew him. He was always willing to help those in need.

Arnold certainly left a rich legacy and beautiful memories. Although our hearts are broken, we will treasure our memories of him, which are God's gift to us when our loved ones are called home. We also take great comfort in knowing that he is with our sweet Lord Jesus and our other beloved family members.

The family would also like to thank the staff, especially the nurses at St. David's South Austin Hospital. Their loving care, support, and patience are world-class and much appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Creek First United Methodist Church or your local no-kill animal shelter.
