William (Bill) Ragsdale Lincoln, age 95 of Bastrop, departed this life at his home on Friday, December 25, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife of 16 years, Kathleen Lincoln; his parents, Thomas Grisby Lincoln and Annie Louise (Dillon) Lincoln; a brother, Thomas Lincoln Jr; two sisters, Esther Lincoln and Marcia Ann Rogers; and two sons, William Kimberly Lincoln and Brian Fowler. He is survived by four daughters, Jennifer Hooker (Tom), Tamara Peppers (John), Ruth Carson (John) and Susan Henderson; three sons, Stanley Lincoln (Jeannine), Jim Lincoln (Rose) and Kraig Fowler (Margaret); 31 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
After graduating Memphis Technical High School in May 1943, Bill was drafted into the US Army and served his country in WWII. In July 1946, after being injured during combat, he was sent home. Upon being discharged from the US Army, Bill spent 25 years working for Memphis Light, Gas & Water. After retiring, he began his second career with Dover Elevator as a product designer where he spent 21 years before retiring again at the age of 70.
Bill loved the Lord and was passionate in his quest to faithfully serve those in need. He served the congregations of each church he attended in a number of capacities. After retirement, he spent over 4 years volunteering with the Samaritans Organization in Southaven, MS helping grow the organization and increasing their ability to provide assistance. Service was always at the core of his life.
Visitation will be from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday and burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.
