Velma Marie McNeill (Ladybug), loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and great friend of Paige, Texas passed away September 5, 2023 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Velma was born December 7, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas, where she graduated from Lubbock High School in May of 1969. She married her soul mate, James McNeill Jr. on June 15, 1968 in Abernathy, Texas . Soon after they had two beautiful children, Bret McNeill on July 27, 1970 and Brandi Turner on March 25, 1972. They spent over 20 years creating memories while her husband, James McNeill Jr. served in the Air Force.
After her husband retired from the Air Force, they both focused on spending their time with family, friends and the church. Velma enjoyed bringing joy to others and quilting, playing bells in the choir and the keyboard. She cherished her time with the quilting group at her church, The Baptist Church of Bastrop, Texas.
Velma loved all of her family and friends dearly. She would tell all kinds of stories from the past, trips and get togethers. She held on to those memories fondly.
Velma was predeceased by her Father, Norman Douglas Price, Mother Emma Evelynn (Montgomery) Price, Daughter Brandi Turner, Brother Charles Price, Niece Cindy Price and two Nephews John and Pat Price and Grand Daughter in Law Rebecca McNeill.
She was survived by her Husband James McNeill Jr., Son Bret McNeill. Sisters Delores Hettler and husband Terry of Denton, Texas, Norma Coventry of Lubbock, Texas, Brother Loyd Price and wife Sandy of Ralls, Texas, Sister in law Ladale Price of Durant, Oklahoma, Grandsons Christopher McNeill and wife Amanda of Paige, Texas, Trace Turner of Paige, Texas, Grand Daughter Kira Tuner of Paige, Texas, Great Grandson Liam McNeill of Paige, Texas and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
