Shirley Overson

Shirley Dean Overson passed away peacefully in her home on October 15, 2022 with family beside her. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on March 2, 1948 to her mother Evelyn Clark and is the third of three children, her sisters Alice Jean Smika (William Smika) and Gwendolyn Ann Ikstadt (preceded) (Albert Ikstadt). Shirley was raised in San Jose, California where she enjoyed an amazing life. She lived there until March 2021 when she relocated to a beautiful new home in Bastrop, Texas.

She is survived by her loving husband Matthew Overson; and two children, Brett Miguel Viramontes (preceded) (Lisa Love Viramontes) and Angela Kirsten Mazzone (Thomas Brian Mazzone) and her Grandchildren, Abigail Rose Dauer (21), Gabriel Miguel Viramontes (19), Isabella Grace Viramontes (17).

Shirley embraced life and always had a positive attitude. She was very proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She relished spending time with her grandchildren and her friends, and she was kind to everyone she met. Shirley was an extremely intelligent, courageous, bold and compassionate woman. She enjoyed a good mystery and she loved to shop. This sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend will be forever missed.

A celebration on Shirley's life will be held at 10:00am on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.

The funeral home is located at 505 Old Austin Highway in Bastrop, Texas.
