Ruby Ervin

Ruby Darnell (Ervin) Henderson passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born November 24, 1946 in Bastrop, TX to Jerome and Kathryn (Smith) Ervin Jr. She was the second eldest of ten children.

On January 19, 1964, Ruby married Byron Henderson in Bastrop, TX. They settled in Comal County in 1978, and would remain there for the rest of their lives. Ruby often helped her husband with his independent truck owner/operator business, handling all the paperwork for him. In 1997, she became an independent driver for the San Antonio Express News. She was very dedicated to her job, and worked hard at what she did. She retired from delivering newspapers in 2012.

Ruby is survived by her niece, Sharon Ervin; great-nephew, Jordan Jackson and great-niece, Cathryn Jackson of Converse, TX. Her brothers Tommy Ervin and his wife, Alma of Fredericksburg, TX; Jubel Ervin of Bastrop, TX and Paul Ervin and his wife, Carrie of Bastrop, TX. Her sisters, Connie Pierce and her husband, Berry of San Saba, TX; Fay Cruz and her husband, Francisco of Bastrop, TX; Mary Sue Ervin Hoodye and her husband, Donnie of Bastrop, TX and Scarlett Jansure and her husband, Ray of Converse, TX. She had numerous nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Henderson; her father, Jerome Ervin Jr; her mother, Kathryn (Smith) Ervin; her sister, Kathy Gail Ervin; her brother Jimmy Ervin, and her grandmother Ruby Furr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 12PM to 4PM at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, TX at 2PM with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery
