Rosa Selvera Tijerina
October 27, 1927 - September 20, 2018

Our beloved Rosa Martinez Tijerina, age 90, resident of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 20, 2018. She was born October 27, 1927 in Bastrop County, Texas to Margarita Martinez and Augustin Selvera.

She is preceded in death by her son; Felimon Hernandez, son-in-law Kenneth Petersen and daughter-in-law, Esther Hernandez.
She is survived by her loving husband, Crispin Tijerina. Her children: Susana Petersen, daughter-in-law Elida Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez (Laura), Carlos Hernandez, Rafael Tijerina, Francisco Tijerina, Florinda Lewis (Keith) and her 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Our Mother was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was so proud of her family. She had so much compassion, love and cared for us all. She loved holidays and family get togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She spent hours cooking and preparing delicious meals. She also had a deep connection and love for her pets.
Rosa was a long-time employee of Motorola Corp.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday September 25, 2018 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home, located at 505 Old Austin Hwy. in Bastrop Texas. Mass Service, on Wednesday September 26th at 10:00 a.m. Marr Jones Newby Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery 1800 South St. Bastrop Texas. A reception will follow at Angel Mountain, located at 178 Pine Tree Loop in Bastrop, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Mike Petersen, Chris Hernandez, Mike Hernandez, Felimon Hernandez, Daniel Hernandez, Phil Hernandez and Brycen Lewis.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses on the 5th floor wing at St. David's Hospital and at West Oaks Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and excellent care during her last days. Thank you for caring for our Mother.

The light you shined to all who's life you touched is now gone but forever burns in our hearts. There is a new star in the sky that God has put in its place.
