Ronald Hugh Swope went to his heavenly home at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 22, 1950 to Hugh and Gracie Swope. He grew up in Beaumont and, after graduating from French High School, he graduated from Lamar university with a degree in computer programming.
After graduation, he moved to Houston for a short period, and then moved to Austin where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Jones. The two were married on September 5, 1981, and moved to Cedar Creek, Texas where he built their family home.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and their two daughters, Tracy Botos(Justin) and Cassie Pharis(Brandon). His brother, David Swope. He is also survived by his four grandchildren. Dylan Pharis, Addison Pharis, Jacey Botos, and Molly Botos. He had seven nieces and nephews. Aubrey Nelson, Stacie Barnett, Marla Nelson, Daniel Nelson, Kelly Jones, Josh Jones, and Micah Jones.
He was a mechanic at Capitol Chevrolet and Covert Chevrolet for a majority of his life. He then drove a shuttle bus at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport until retiring in 2020. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, fishing, camping, and his model trains in his man cave.
He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and several close friends.
