To Know Him was To Love Him

Richard Rodell Reed was the third son to Walter Reed and Sandra Hunter-Reed. Richard was born September 30, 1966, in Oxnard, California, Oxnard Air Force Base while his father was in the military. Little did Richard’s father know that his mother had conceived Richard with the intent of surprising Walter with a special blessing of a baby boy. Richard attended Emile Elementary, Tyndell AirForce Base Elementary and graduated from Huersthi High School, Wichita Falls. Richard was a lover of football and basketball and could always be found on a basketball court.

Richard had a smile and hug for all that he would meet. He did not allow anyone to be a stranger. Richard’s smile was infectious and would light up any room. Richard had a gentle infectious laugh and hug that comforted his mother during troubled times. Richard was an affectionate, fun-loving, father, son, brother and uncle. Richard will truly be missed by family and friends.

Richard had a variety of skills and talents buts his love for music, gardening and his art was where he placed most of his time and energy. Richard care for his garden and flowers will truly be missed around the home. Richard could always be found working in the yard, drawing portraits reading his bible or just listening to his music. Richard loved music. Richard was the DJ for many of the family gathering and rallies. Richard was dutiful supporter of his brother Rodney Odell Reed. Richard has travelled and rallied in support of Rodney Reed all over the United States. Richard’s support and love for his brothers was unwavering. Richard was truly his brothers' keepers.

Richard love for the Lord, paid off and on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Richard was called home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Richard leaves to mourn and cherish his memories; mother; Sandra Hunter Reed, sons: Marcu Joel Reed, Isaac Matthew Reed, Jakot Kenzell Reed, Noah Samuel Reed and his blessing of a daughter Aubree Eliabeth, his soul mate and mother of his children Brandi Senters. brothers: Rodney Rodell Reed, Robert Rodell Reed, Ronald Rodell Reed, Ryan Rodell Reed, Roderick Rodell Reed Camille Anderson favorite sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Richard was proceeded in death by his father: Walter Reed; Uncle Leslie Hunter and grandparents

A visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 pm at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas. Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.
