Richard Allan Dickman, Jr. was born on March 21, 1954 in Galveston, Texas and was extremely proud of being a B.O.I. (Born On Island). Allan passed away Friday morning, September 5, 2025 at his home in Bastrop, Texas.
Allan graduated from Ball High School in Galveston in 1972, worked for Big Three Industries which later became Air Liquide and retired after 20 years.
Allan also known as Rick Allen was a well-known musician in Galveston County and surrounding areas for many years. Music was his passion until the end.
After moving to Bastrop, Texas he began a second career. Allan began working at Ms. K’s Bail Bonds and then opened his own company, Axis Bail Bonds and soon became a Private Investigator opening New Line Investigation Group of Texas. After becoming so busy with being a Private Investigator he closed Axis Bail Bonds.
Over the years in Bastrop he made so many friends and was loved by many. Allan was a member of Mina Masonic Lodge # 1456 AF & AM and was a Past Worshipful Master, was a Past Worthy Patron of Bastrop Chapter # 64 Order of The Eastern Star, was a member of The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and was a member of Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop.
Allan was predeceased by his parents Richard Allan Dickman, Sr. and Henrietta Lee Helfenstein Starr, his brother John Ford and his grandsons, Damian Storm Ali and Sgt. Joshua Edward Shipman, USMC.
Allan is survived by his wife of 48 years (almost 49 years) Rita Stewart-Dickman, his children Dennis C. Shipman, Jr. (Amanda) of Limerick, Maine, Margaret Jean “Jeannie” Shipman-Richardson of Austin Texas, Richard A Dickman, III (Tica) of Pearland, Texas and Kenneth A Dickman (Stacey) of Texas City, Texas, his sister Dian Peters (Donald) of Bastrop, Texas, his grandchildren, William Ali, Raven Ali-Morales ( Jose), Taylor Shipman, Dennis C. Shipman, III, Grace Shipman, Jake Dickman, Richard A Dickman, IV, Mia Dickman, Trey Cooper, Tyler Cooper, River Dickman and Sydney Dickman, great-grandchildren, Ricardo “Ricky” Dickman, Izabella “Izzy” Morales, Cecilia Morales and Lucian Ali and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special daughter, Courtney Dickman-Toups (Buddy) of Hitchcock, TX, not by birth, but by choice.

Visitation is Friday, September 12, 2025 from 4-7 for friends at Marrs Jones Newby Home in Bastrop TX.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Marrs Jones Newby in Bastrop, TX officiated by Judge Benton Eskew who Allan thought of as a close friend and brother.
Masonic graveside services and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop TX.
