Peggy Ruth (Spears) Wilson

October 15, 1940 — February 9, 2025

Peggy Ruth (Spears) Wilson, age 84, passed from this life on Feb. 09, 2025.
She was born to Roy and Adell (Smith) Spears on Oct. 15, 1940.

Reared in Georgetown, Mom treasured the time of discovery and adventure alongside her brother and cousins as they explored creeks and caverns found in and around the area.

On Dec. 21, 1956 she and Dad wed at the Williamson County courthouse and celebrated by taking a honeymoon trip to San Antonio with Cousin Leon Almon and his bride, Gloria. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson recently celebrated 68 years together.

A stint in the USAF moved the family to Wichita Falls - Shepard AFB (Cynthia Ann b. 1957 d.2010) and then to Dover - AFB (Sharon Lee b. 1959). Back in Texas they completed the trio of daughters. (Carol Jean b. 1961)

Moving with job opportunities led to a few years living in Hearne and later settling in Elgin ('69). Mom was always chief cook, laundress, seamstress, truck driver, and an avid crafter. She became an Avon Representative in Elgin for many years and forged lasting relationships.

Building their modest home in the Bastrop area in the mid '80's provided opportunities for new adventures and friendships.
Her talent for crafting led to joining a co-op craft store in downtown Bastrop. She became an operating member and kept crafting until the shop closed.

Preceding her in death are her parents, daughter Cindi, brother W.J. (Jodie) Spears, sister Doris (Spears) Slaydon, great-grandson Richard Lee Shugart and various other family and friends.

Mom leaves us to mourn and remember her as only we can. Richard Wilson, husband, daughters Sharon Lee (V. Gary) Hill and Carol Jean (Tracy) Wallace. Her legacy continues with grandchildren, Lee Wilson, Paul Shugart, Hannibal Hale, Callista (Hill)
Janosky and Laura Hill. There are six (6) great grandchildren with four (4) great-great grandchildren.

Having battled IBS/UC/Crohn's for the entirety of her adult life she never let it define or stop her for long.

Donation for all efforts to stifle the progression of these diseases would be vastly welcomed!!

TIA's (transient ischemic attacks) plagued Peggy in her aging years making it difficult to fully communicate thoughts or contribute to conversations and it was laughter that became her voice. (IYKYK)
