Norma Woehl

Norma Woehl entered the gates of Heaven on December 22, 2021 at the age of 89.

Norma was born in Newport News, Virginia on June 10, 1932 to Steve and Ida Rainey Lampros.

She met the love of her life, Arthur Joe Woehl, Jr. at Bastrop Highschool. She later moved back to Newport News, but knew he was the one and they continued their relationship long distance.  They married in Virginia on March 24, 1951, and after their honeymoon returned to Bastrop.

Norma is survived by her husband of 70 years, A.J. Woehl; daughters, Pam Salinas and her husband Daniel, Pat Seyfried and her husband Wilson, and Val Woehl; grandsons, Jason White and his wife Sue and their children, Jacee and Jaden,  Carey White and his wife Sylvia and their daughter, Danielle, Cory White and his wife Katy and their daughters, Hannah and Emily, Brandon Salinas and his wife Michele and their son, Beau, Keith Fulcher and his wife Kerstin and their daughters, Kimberly and Katie; her only granddaughter, Tracy Myers and her husband Jason and their daughters, Hattie and Millie.

Norma taught Sunday School at First Christian Church in Harlingen for many years as well as singing in the choir, played Queen Esther in a “Women of the Bible” play, volunteered with H.O.S.T. (a tutoring program for children) for twenty years. She loved visiting the local nursing homes and became known as “the cupcake lady.”

In 1971 she and her sister, Ethel, opened the Heritage Gift Shop in Harlingen, Texas for 21 years. They carried beautiful china, crystal, jewelry, and décor for the home.

She was a strong believer in Christ and loved her family, grandchildren and great-grands. Even at the end of her journey with Alzheimer and limited conversation, she could still lead us in her beautiful prayers giving God the Glory.

Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.  The funeral home is located at 505 Old Austin Highway in Bastrop, Texas.

The funeral service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church.  The church is located 1201 Main Street in Bastrop, Texas.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.  The family will receive guests for food and fellowship back at the Church.
