Muriel Elizabeth Byler Lueders, age 95, passed away on May 28, 2026, in Bastrop, Texas. She was born on November 19, 1930, in Muldoon, Texas, to Nettie and Jessie Byler.

Muriel spent her childhood in Muldoon with her parents, five sisters, and two brothers She married the love of her life, J.W. Lueders, on February 10, 1950, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. . She was a dedicated housewife and mother who devoted her life to caring for her family. While living in Muldoon, she also served as a substitute rural mail carrier for her husband. The family moved to Bastrop in 1974, where Muriel began working at Kragh’s Jewelry Store as a salesperson and jewelry engraver. During her years in downtown Bastrop, she developed many cherished friendships and fond memories.

Muriel loved homemaking, cooking, sewing, and visiting with family and neighbors. She took great pride in caring for her family and ensuring they were always well looked after. In her later years, she enjoyed coloring, reading, and spending time with loved ones.

She was a faithful member of Muldoon Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Bastrop, and Cedar Valley Baptist Church. Through the years, she helped prepare and serve meals, created stuffed toys for mission projects, and faithfully attended Sunday School classes.

Muriel is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lueders and partner Darla Koehler; her son, Russell Lueders and wife Aya; nine grandchildren, Dara Rabensburg (Neil Taylor), Jeremy Hellums (Kari), Aaron Hellums (Katie), Randy Lueders (Penny), Dustin Lueders (Kimmy), Matt Hellums (Alex), Kaytlyn Stewart (Jeremy), Dustin Matocha (Lauren Ashley), and Courtney Janca (Bryn); and twenty great-grandchildren: Deven Bratcher (Sarah), Jaxon Taylor, Landon Hellums, Logan Hellums, Lily Lueders, Campbell Lueders, Karly Hellums, Riley Hellums, James Lueders, Briggs Lueders, Duke Hellums, Josephine Hellums, Jules Lueders, Demi Hellums, Lochlan Stewart, Hayes Janca, Jasper Stewart, Roslyn Lueders, Palmer Janca, and Adeline Matocha. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her very special dog, Little Bear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Lueders; her parents, Nettie and Jessie Byler; her brothers, Ernest Byler and William Byler; her sisters, Jessie Rose, Ruth Giese, Lucille Riehs, Louise Hunger, and Ruby Jochen; and her nephew, William Troy Byler.

In the lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to be made to Cedar Valley Baptist Church youth group, the Muldoon Pitman Cemetery Association or the charity of your choice.

Celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. Family will be present for visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 and the celebration of life will follow. Graveside service will be at Muldoon Pitman Cemetery.
