Bastrop

Mildred Helen (Wolf) Namken of Bastrop, age 94 departed this life peacefully in the early morning hours in Kyle, Texas on April 6, 2024.  Mildred was born February 13, 1930 at Greens Creek, Texas in Fayette County, to Henry and Hattie (Schneider) Wolf, the youngest of two daughters.  As the family story goes Mildred came into this world early and was so small they kept her in a shoebox by the heater stove.

Mildred graduated from Round Top /Carmine High School and at the age of 14 drove the school bus home each day as she was the last one on the route, and became the driver for the rural students. Once upon a time, despite not being able to swim, she took a boat ride on a country pond with Royce Wallace Namken of Giddings and shortly thereafter they married on October 23rd, 1949 and made Bastrop their home.

Mildred was the hardest worker and an over achiever in everything she undertook.  She was doing yard work just this past month. Mildred’s career ended at her death.  Her career spanned several jobs including working for James Kershaw in the Bastrop County District Attorney’s office, Bastrop Abstract Company, and Maynard Real Estate before beginning her own Real Estate practice.  She acquired rental properties over the years and continued to manage them.

Mildred loved working in her yard and selling antiques and collectibles, in years past, even offering up her wares at the antique show in Warrenton. In the later years, she devoted her attention to her two cats, Sweetie and Sugar.

Mildred is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sister Evelyn (Wolf) Steglich and her husband Edward, a son-in-law, Wes Trigg, and grandson, Wyatt Trigg, brothers-in-law, Dr. Neal Namken, Calvin Namken and wife Emily.

She is survived by daughter Patsy Trigg, and a son Royce “Wally” Namken, Jr. and wife Janet; grandsons Rhett Trigg, Jarrett and Jake Namken, sister-in-law, Miriam Namken and extended family Stephen and Chelsea Klaus and their children Troy Wyatt, Kolt, Luke, Westyn and Lacy and numerous relatives and friends.
