Maria Mata

Maria Del Carmen Mata, 67, passed away January 20, 2022.

Maria Del Carmen Mata was born in Candela, Coahuila, Mexico on May 28, 1954, to Gregorio Flores Cantu and Adelfa Ramirez. Maria married Jose Luis Mata. Maria went on to have two children, Carmen Michelle Mata and Jose Guadalupe Mata. Maria was fun and funny. She loved to dance, cook, take pictures, plan events/parties, church, mass, donate to the church, and be with family, immediate or not. She was a larger than life, social butterfly, and was the best cook around. Maria was also a master salesperson and loved selling anything and everything. She  loved her dresses and jewelry and would wear flowers, headbands, and funny hats.

She was preceded in death by parents, Gregorio Flores and Adelfa Ramirez;  brothers, Macedonio Flores Ramirez Alejandro Flores Ramirez; sisters, Laurita Flores Ramirez and Nora Ella Flores Ramirez.

She is survived by husband, Jose Luis Mata; children, Carmen Michelle Mata and Jose Guadalupe Mata; grandchildren, Tatiana Rene Mata and Elisa Harper Mata.

She fought to live till the very end and will be missed very much by her family.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 23, 2022, from 1:00pm - 6:00pm in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. Mass will be Monday, January 24, at 10:00am at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop followed by interment in Assumption Cemetery in Austin.
