Marcus W. Meuth

Marcus W. Meuth, age 89, passed peacefully in his home on May 3, 2025.

Marcus was born in the rural area of Rockne, Texas to Anton Meuth and Geneva Goodman Bartsch, where they lived as sharecroppers, moving around quite often from farm to farm. While he didn’t miss picking cotton as a child, he often recounted fond memories of the innocent mischief he and his four brothers engaged in (Gene, Victor, Floyd, and Maurice). He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School as a child, where his humor wasn’t looked on quite as fondly by the nuns. As many of his time did, he dropped out of school to help support the family, and ultimately volunteered for the military, serving in Korea as an Infantry Engineer Marksman, where he was also a champion boxer, nicknamed, “Bruiser.” In 1961, he married Lyndell Kadura to whom he was happily married for 43 years until her passing. They had sons Dwayne, Steve, Mark and daughter Michelle. In his second phase of life, he was fortunate to find new love with Glyn Rose Goertz, with whom he was married for 4 years, until her passing. He was a loving, dutiful husband who cared for both wives through prolonged illnesses.

Marcus held various jobs throughout his life, from work on oil rigs, to barbering, and meter reading, but in the end, retired from the postal service. After retirement, he started “Meuth Enterprises,” where he won contracts with the State to maintain parks and roadsides, and installed wheel stops.

He was a caring, devoted father and grandfather, who led by example, always putting family first. He loved spending time hunting, fishing, dancing, and playing dominoes. He was well known for his sense of humor and ability to find himself in the oddest of mishaps. Despite many hardships, he always maintained a positive outlook and a joy for life, and ended every night thanking God for his many blessings. He lived a faith filled life and was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne Texas, where a Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 5pm-7pm, with a Rosary to follow at 7pm, and Funeral/Burial Services on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10:30am. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and local Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 2527.

Marcus is preceded in death by one son, Dwayne, and survived by the following children and their spouses, Steve and Colleen Meuth, Mark and Teri Meuth, Michelle Meuth and Clint Frerich; grandchildren: Jamie and Josh Council, Jeffrey Meuth, Chad Meuth, Chris Meuth and Izamar Ocon, Brittany and Tyler Nichols; and great grandchildren, Holton, Brooks, Colter, Luna and Cristobal Ocon Meuth, and Callan Nichols; brother, Maurice Meuth.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Tama “Charlene” Gambee, Shannon Griffin, Michele Heimann, Amber Capeheart, and Nicole Ortiz for their compassionate care and tireless efforts in providing support during Marcus’s illness. Their gentle gestures and unwavering presence made a profound difference in our lives. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marcus’s honor to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Sacred Heart with burial following at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockne, Texas.
