In Loving Memory of Linda L. Strong
November 23, 1938 - April 1, 2025
Linda Strong, 86, of Cedar Creek Texas passed away peacefully at her home on April 1, 2025 surrounded by loving family and friends. The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the tremendous love and care Linda received over the past few months from JOL Hospice nurses’, Lori and Shannon, whom Linda truly cherished. Linda was born in Elmira NY in 1938 to the late Mabel and Leslie Steck. She was a graduate of Elmira Southside High School “Class of 1956” where she met the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Strong. They eloped their senior year in high school and were married 68 years. They were blessed to have five children, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren (plus one more on the way); building lasting memories with family over their beautiful life together.
Linda was predeceased by her brother, James Steck, and her mother and father (Mabel and Leslie Steck). Linda is survived by her adoring husband, Gerald “Jerry” of 68 years, five children - Cindy (Larry Pounds), Tim (Sherry Strong), Amy (Timothy Plunkett), Geri (Gary Koehn), & Pam (Chip Tatro).; 11 grandchildren- Benjamin Pounds, Elisabeth Reis, Michael and Christopher Strong, Ryan, Patrick, Kaitlyn, and Maggie Plunkett, Sarah Strong, Zachary Tatro, and Alexandra Sojdie.
Their life together began in upstate New York where they raised their children, eventually leading them to reside in Texas in 1985 where they have enjoyed living every moment on property with their longhorns. Family and friends were always held so dearly to Linda. She and Jerry opened their home and were so welcoming to all family and friends throughout their lives where they created some wonderful memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Linda & Jerry enjoyed downtown Bastrop with friends listening to live entertainment, dancing, and enjoying life. Linda always had a smile, sense of humor, and kind words and hugs for all that were around her. Friends quickly became family to both of them and they left footprints in the hearts of all who met them. Linda will be dearly missed and remembered forever.
