Kevin O’Dwyer passed away on January14, 2024, at the age of sixty-three at his home in Bastrop, Texas.
Kevin is survived by his parents, his siblings; Brian, Michael, Kathleen, and Sean; his wife, Robbin; his children, Daniel, Erin, and Kienan; and his stepdaughter Anna. He is preceded in death by his stepson Tom.
Kevin was born on July 1, 1960 in Augusta, Georgia, to Carole and Roger O’Dwyer. The oldest of five children, Kevin was an avid Boy Scout and played football for Copperas Cove High School before attending the United States Military Academy. He graduated from West Point in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science and then served in the U.S. Army "The 3rd Armored Cavalry Brave Rifles" eventually attaining rank of Captain. After leaving the military, he worked for decades as an electrical engineer, and created two patents for the semiconductor industry.
Kevin was a devoted husband and father. He loved tinkering, and never met a car repair or household project he wasn’t willing to tackle. Kevin enjoyed brewing his own beer, canoeing and kayaking, and had a passion for military history and science fiction. He loved his children above all else, and poured all of himself into their lives. He would construct custom playsets for them, support them in their athletic and academic endeavors, and shared his hobbies with them at every opportunity. Although he could appear outwardly serious, he was a loyal goofball at his core, and would always go out of his way to try and do what he felt was right. He will be achingly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled from 5-7pm on February 1st at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas. Kevin’s Mass of Christian Burial and interment will follow on February 2nd at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas.
