Kenneth Wayne Wood, 75, of Cedar Creek, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 15, 1950, in Centreville, Mississippi, to Henry and Vera Wood, Kenneth lived a life defined by devotion—both to those he loved and to the values he held dear.
He graduated from St. Francisville High School and went on to serve his country proudly, drafted in the United States Army and completing a tour during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Kenneth spent his entire career as a truck driver, a role that reflected his strong work ethic and enduring commitment to providing for his family.
A passionate sports fan, Kenneth could often be found cheering on his favorite teams—LSU, the New Orleans Saints, the Texas Rangers, and the Houston Astros. He even found joy in watching classic game reruns, never missing a chance to relive the excitement.
More than anything, Kenneth was a family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence was a constant source of comfort and strength. His home was filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support for those he loved most.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters; and one grandson. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Wood; his children, Michael Wood and wife Christine, Sandy Kadlecek and husband Davey; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him deeply.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas. Graveside services with military honors will follow on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
