John Anthony Levermann
(1927-2021)
On Saturday, July 21, 2021, John went to meet his beloved bride, Rita Bray Levermann, in Smithville, Texas. John was born in Alamo, and lived in McAllen, Texas for over 65 years, and moved to Smithville to live in the lost pines, where he was active in the American Legion and the Bastrop County Veterans Honor Guard. He served his country and state for 15 years. He stayed active in his communities and worked in a variety of roles - his favorites as a cowboy and as a hunting guide in South Texas and Mexico. John was a proud veteran and life-long Texan, often seen wearing his WWII cap or cowboy hat and boots.
He leaves behind his son Tony, daughters Christine and Laurie Levermann-Coker, and son Michael, grandchildren Casey, Cory, Shane, Justin, Ashley, and Anthony, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will take place Monday, August 2, 2021 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas. The funeral home is located at 505 Old Austin Highway.
Their will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and a celebration of John's life at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bastrop County Veterans Honor Guard or plant a tree in his honor.
