John Green, a cherished husband, devoted family member, and beloved friend, peacefully departed this world on August 18, 2026, at the Christopher House in Austin, Texas. Born on September 20, 1953, in South Gate, California, John led a life full of love, adventure, and service.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his sister. He leaves behind his loving wife, Brenda "BB" Green, with whom he shared a remarkable 46-year marriage filled with love and companionship. Throughout their life together, John and Brenda were inseparable, sharing countless memories and adventures, especially during their cherished travels to Colorado, where they escaped the summer heat and found solace in nature's beauty.
John's career was marked by a steadfast commitment to public service and community. He worked at the Wynne Unit in Huntsville, at the Federal Correctional Institution in Bastrop, and with the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office. His dedication to his work was unwavering, and he made a significant impact in each role. In addition to his career in law enforcement, John was also the proud owner and operator of John's Guns in Bastrop for many years, where he shared his passion and expertise with many.
An avid hunter and fisherman, John found joy in the great outdoors, often accompanied by friends who treasured his company and the warmth of his spirit. Those who knew John will remember his remarkable ability to make everyone smile with his welcoming nature and generous heart.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda, his cousins Michael and Diane Petras, and his nieces Hannah and Heather. He also leaves behind a host of friends who were touched by his kindness and humor.
A celebration of John's life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Country Fellowship, located at 1252 FM 20, Cedar Creek, Texas. All who knew and loved John are invited to join in honoring his memory and the joy he brought into the lives of others.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Christian Country Fellowship Bereavement Fund. The Green family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Christopher House and Kindful Health for their compassionate and exceptional care during John's final days.
John Green's legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
