Jerry Don Slater left this world for heaven on March 4th, 2021. He was 62 years old. He was born in Haskell, Texas to Dan and Betty Slater on November 27th, 1958.
Jerry loved to fish and hunt, and he sure did love collecting arrowheads and artifacts, but his true love in this world was his family. He was a dedicated grandfather and was looking forward to teaching his grandchildren how to hunt for arrowheads. His children, nieces and nephews have followed in his footsteps after his teachings and cherish all of the advice and wisdom he has shared. He had the biggest heart and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Jerry never knew a stranger and would accept anyone into his circle. His goal was to always make people laugh and he had never ending jokes and stories.
He will be missed greatly, but he will also be remembered and celebrated by those who knew him for his smile, laughter, and the joy that he carried to us every day. We love you so much, Jerry.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dan Slater.
He leaves behind his beloved children, Alexis Slater, Allison Slater, and Justin Slater, all hailing from Texas, and his grandchildren Dean and Sam. He also leaves behind his mother, Betty Slater; and big brother, Steve Slater. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews who affectionately knew him as "GeeGee."
We are celebrating Jerry's life on March 11th, 2021 at Vernon Richards Riverbend Park in Smithville at 2pm. Dress is typical Jerry fashion (casual).
Jerry's family requests that in lieu of flowers, those donations instead be made to St Judes Children's Hospital or Bastrop County Animal Shelter.
