Janet Marie Grabbert

September 14, 1948 — July 14, 2025

Janet Marie Grabbert, 76, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, surrounded by love.

Born on September 14, 1948, in Texas to Jesse Webb Tausch and Carol McCowan, Janet grew up with a deep love for family, faith, and service. She met the love of her life, James “Jim” Grabbert, at a picnic while they were both serving in the Air Force. After a year of dating, they married and went on to share 56 devoted years of marriage together.

Janet and Jim raised two children, Jodie Uden and Jimmy Grabbert (wife Kelly), who brought them great pride and joy. She was a devoted grandmother to Susan (husband Schuyler), Matthew (wife Chistina), Thomas, Rylan, and Ryker. Her role as great-grandmother brought her even more happiness, as she lovingly embraced Susan’s children, Ethan, Erica, and Rehlynne; Matthew’s children, Jayla, Matthew Jr., Amayah, and Holdin; and Thomas’s sons, Zayden and Ryder.

Her heart for service extended far beyond her home. For 20 years, Janet worked as a paraprofessional with special needs students in the school system, where her enthusiasm, patience, and compassion left a lasting impression on the many young lives she touched. She also devoted herself to ministry work, participating in mission trips to China and Belize, and serving faithfully through “Rainbow Promises” twice a week for 15 years in the Bastrop community.

Janet loved children, thrived in the outdoors, and had a passion for gardening. She was known for her energetic spirit, infectious joy, and boundless love for those around her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Grabbert; her children, Jodie Uden and Jimmy Grabbert (Kelly); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Jesse Tausch, Jessica Boling, and Rebecca Smith; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Carol Tausch, and her sister, Lola McCreary..
