James Fredrick Zeman passed away November 29, 2019 at the age of 87.
Born March 12, 1932 in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, son of Henry and Clara Zeman.
James grew up on a beautiful farm in Sunburg Minnesota with his two brothers John,Richard and sister Betty. He lived there until he joined the Army in 1953. In 1955 he met and married the love of his life, Fay Dobbs, and her 2 beautiful daughters Jeanie and Debbie. Within a year James Fredrick Zeman II was born. And so began the Zeman journey of 22 moves encompassing multiple assignments across the United States, Europe and South Korea.
For the next 25 years James was assigned to the Project Nike Research and Development Programs. A project between the US Army and Bell Laboratories. They developed the Ajax, Hercules, Hawk, Spartan, Pershing, LaCross and Sprint ICBM missile programs.
With their home base at Ft. Bliss Texas, the family enjoyed fishing, water skiing and camping. No wave was too big to drag his kids over behind the boat!! Until Mom became the Captain and the kids were truly grateful!!!
In 1980 James decided to retire from the Army with rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 and him and Fay started the next phase of their lives. After driving thru the beautiful Pines in Bastrop they purchased property and settled down. Over the next 15 years he worked for General Electric Medical Systems until he retired again.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Fay, 3 kids, Jeanie, Debbie and James, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are James and Jacob Zeman, Gary and Dusty Braswell, Josh Fulp and Brian Weaver.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home with Military Honors and burial following at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop Texas.
