James Caughron Jr.

James M. Caughron, Jr. passed away on February 9, 2022 at St. David's South Hospital in Austin, TX. at the age of 89.

James was born August 12, 1932, in the City of Eastland, Eastland County, Texas to James Melvin Caughron, Sr. (1896 - 1994) and Anett "Netta,'' Geneva Harville (1901 -1996), James had no other siblings.

James resided in Eastland until he was age eight before moving to Odessa, Texas with his parents. James graduated from Odessa High School in 1950. James was married to Beverly Nelson in Odessa, TX on October 29, 1993. James and Beverly, relocated to Kerr County in the Texas Hill Country in 1996 to be closer to her youngest son. They relocated again further east to the City of Bastrop in 2012 where they lived until James' death. Beverly remains in Bastrop living close to her oldest son.

James was drafted into the US Army in Abilene, TX in May 1953 and was sent to Fort Belvoir for Basic Training in Fort Leonardwood, MO. James was then assigned to Camp Crowder, Neosho, MO as part of the Signal Corps of the Army Corps of Engineering. He received an Honorable Discharge and separated from the US Army at the rank of Corporal on May 20, 1955.

James retired from Philips Petroleum Company after forty years of employment as a welder from February 18, 1952 to July 31, 1992.

Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney Crosby.

James is survived by his wife of 28 years, Beverly Jane Reasor Nelson Caughron. He is also survived by four children; daughter, Robbie with husband, Terry Sutton; son, Terry Caughron with wife, Denise; daughter, Dana, with husband, Guadalupe Chavez; and daughter, Shelli with husband, Gordon Latta. James is also survived by eight grandchildren; Christopher Ray Sutton with wife, Brandi; Casi Nicole with husband, Christopher Brooks; David Najera; Daniel Najera; Tyler Caughron with wife, Noemi; Amanda with husband Jacob Del Toro; and Anthony James "AJ" Caughron with wife, Victoria; and Dustin Crosby. James is survived by 12 great-grand children, Cadin Brooks, Cashlin Brooks, Danica Najera, Rory Najera, Paisley Caughron, Emilia Del Tora, Corey Sutton, Cody Sutton, Logan Najera, Simon Najera, Charles Caughron, and Parker Caughron; and two great-great grandchildren, Brayden Sutton and Braxton Sutton.

Burial of cremated remains will take place on April 12, 2022, at 10:00am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
