James C
Williams, Sr
Sep 1, 1957 — Jul 4, 2026
James Curtis Williams Sr., age 68, of Dale, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2026. Born to Rosie Bell and Charles Albert Williams on September 1, 1957, in San Antonio, Texas, James was a true Texan at heart with a spirit as vast and warm as the Lone Star State itself.
James was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rosie Bell and Charles Albert Williams, his brothers Charles Jr., Kenneth, Ellis, and his dear sister, Martha. His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 49 years, Merle Williams, his devoted daughter, Betty, and his loving son, Curtis Jr., along with his caring daughter-in-law, Jaime.
He was a cherished grandfather to Heather and her husband Andrew, Shelby and her boyfriend Allen, Dylan and his girlfriend Heaven, Jaxon, and Stella. His great-grandchildren Tyler, Serenity, Athena, Dalton, and Evelyn will remember their \"Papa\" fondly and carry his legacy forward.
James attended school through the 9th grade at Del Valle. His education was not confined to the classroom, though. He was a lifelong learner, always eager to share his wisdom and experiences with his loved ones. His favorite hobby was hunting with his \"Willy boy\" Dylan and, in his playful manner, giving folks nicknames.
A man of many talents, James was a full-time father, Papa, and husband. His family was his pride, and he loved nothing more than making barbecue for them, an accomplishment he held close to his heart. His frugality was a testament to his practical nature, but it was his great sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.
His service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Marr-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a man who touched so many hearts and made every moment count.
James was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was a beacon of strength, love, and laughter for his family and friends. His memory will continue to inspire those who were privileged to have known him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life, remembering the love and joy he brought into our lives. We are forever grateful for the time we had with him.
