Austin

Henry Bell or “The Great One” as he was fondly referred to passed away on July 21, 2023 at the age of 82.  Henry was the cherished only son of Mildred Smith Bell and Henry N. Bell, Jr. of Bastrop, Texas.  He graduated from The University of Texas in 1965 and received his J.D. from Baylor School of Law in 1968. Henry married Pamela Roberts from San Antonio on July 25th, 1964. They would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this week. Henry was a Colonel in the U. S. Army and served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) and Army Reserves after active service in Vietnam.  Henry was both a rancher and lawyer and practiced family law in Austin and the surrounding areas with his wife until he retired at the age of 80.  He was a member of the International Bar Association of London, England, both the Texas and American Bar Association and the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO). Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a long time supporter of the arts and past Lord Chancellor of the Knights of the Symphony.  A true sports enthusiast, Henry’s heart belonged to the Longhorns’ football team.  For over 50 years, he held season tickets and cheered on his beloved team with unmatched fervor.  As a 4th generation Texan, he was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sons of the American Revolution and an Admiral of the Texas Navy. Henry is best remembered as a wonderful storyteller.  He is survived by his wife, Pamela Bell, two wonderful children Regina Bell McFarland of Dallas and her husband John Samuel McFarland, Jr. and Henry N. Bell IV (Cuatro) of Austin and his wife Jennifer Rosson Bell. Henry had three loving grandchildren: Henry Bell V of Austin and Tennie and Jack McFarland of Dallas.

Donations may be made to the Knights of the Symphony P.O. Box 50531 Austin, Texas 78763.
