Gordon Stanley "Gordie" Haugen entered life eternal on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at the age of 85. Born and reared in the Icelandic-Norwegian community of Upham, North Dakota, on January 8th, 1938. Baptized and confirmed in the Melkanton Lutheran Church. Gordie moved to Florida with his family and graduated from Martin County High School in Stuart, Florida. He moved to San Diego, CA to work for Rohr Aircraft and founded an electrical contracting business. He began a long career in country music, which took him to Kansas and ultimately to Bastrop, TX where he later worked with the Bastrop Independent School District.
His many avocations over the years included boat-building and racing, gun-building and skeet shooting and Harley Davidson building and riding, competive pool-shooting, checker-playing and book reading. Gordie was a self-described "Hard Headed Norwegian" and a firmly committed independent person.
Gordie was pre-deceased by parents, Selmer & Olive Haugen and son Christopher Lee Haugen. Gordie is survived by sister, Joann Barfield of Salem, VA, special friend Kristina Baugus of Bastrop, TX and numerous friends in and out of the motorcycle community.
One friend sent a card saying, "Hope you have a Harley in Heave to take Jesus for a ride."
