Gloria Rodriguez

Gloria Rodriguez (1928-2017) passed away on May 22, 2017. She was a resident of Hebbronville, Texas and a parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe for over 30 years. In her later years, Gloria relocated to Bastrop, Texas to be close to family. She attended Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop for 15 years.

Gloria was joined in holy matrimony to Guadalupe Rodriguez July 7, 1973. Their union was blessed with 8 children. Her husband, Guadalupe preceded her in death August 10, 2008.

Gloria was a very dedicated member of the church community and was a part of many religious ministries. Gloria was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Secular Franciscan Order, Cursillista , Guadalupana Society, Altar Society, Homebound Ministry, and mass lector. She visited the sick and elderly and often provided the Rosary service for funeral vigils.

Gloria loved good food, gardening, and spending time with family & friends. Gloria also enjoyed sewing and often created pieces for her own wardrobe. She was kind, brave, compassionate, and very beloved by everyone she knew.

She is survived by eight children and many grandchildren. Family, friends, and others whose lives Gloria touched are invited to the Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, TX on May 25, 2017 from 5-8pm for the Visitation (5pm), Rosary (6pm). Funeral mass will take place at Ascension Catholic Church in Bastrop, TX on May 26, 2017 at 10am. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home and condolences may be offered at 577 Herron Trail, McDade, TX 78650.
