Edith Lee Baldridge Travland was born on a beautiful Sunday morning on April 2, 1933 to Onnie Lee and Annie “Mary” Baldridge in Maysfield Texas. She left the earth on January 29, 2026 at the age of 92. She was raised in Cameron Texas and graduated from Yoe high school as valedictorian of her class. She went on to earn a BA degree and was listed in the Whose Who in American Colleges and Universities. Because of her love for learning, she continued her education through Baylor and the University of Texas at Austin.
Edith taught school for several years following her graduation. Her primary classes included high school English, theater and debate. During her teaching career, she met her future husband Terence Travland. They were married for almost 62 years at the time of his death. Once married, they moved to Austin Texas where she continued to be involved in education as was employed by the Texas Education Agency until her retirement.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband Terence, parents Onnie and Mary and her sister Nelda. She is survived by her daughter Miriam, son in law Douglas, grandson Dylan, sister Faye Elliot and brother Danny Baldridge. She also leaves behind her honorary grandchildren Amara, Raven and Joshua whom she adored and gave her great joy and their parents Shirley and Joshua Arrington.
The family would like to thank Sage Park and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care in her declining days.
