Domingo Pacheco

Domingo Pacheco, 86, of Bastrop, Texas, died Thursday, March 31, 2022, peacefully, surrounded by family.

Domingo Cantu Pacheco was born on June 30, 1935, to Juan and Francisca Pacheco in Glenham, the outskirts of Bastrop, Texas, around the coal mines. He was the youngest of five children and attended Mina Ward School, in Bastrop, Texas, however he dropped out at an early age to help the family pick cotton, as so many children did in that era. Domingo married Angelina Merino in Bastrop, Texas, in 1954, and went to work for Swiftex Inc., for many years and eventually retired from Bastrop Independent School District.

Domingo was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Merino Pacheco; both parents, Juan and Francisca Cantu Pacheco; siblings, Manual Pacheco, Petra Pacheco Reyes, Thomasa Pacheco Robledo, and Consuelo Pacheco Cavazos

Domingo is survived by his children, Velia L. Leal, Mario S. Pacheco, Sr., Cynthia P. Braendle, (Mike), and Mary Pacheco, (Lonnie), all of Bastrop; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Pompeyo Chavez for caring for their dad through the years, hospice for coming in treating him with such passionate care, his caregivers, and Wilma Robbins for laying her eyes and hand upon him. He appreciated you very much, as did we. The family would also like to thank all the wonderful people that came out to pray with him.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop followed by rosary at 7:00pm. Mass will be Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 10:00am at Ascension Catholic Church of Bastrop followed by interment in Alta Vista cemetery.
