Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Barnard, age 68, of Red Rock, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 11, 2023. She was born January 4, 1955, in Gary, Indiana to Nelda and Robert Moore. Bastrop became home to the family leaving Indiana in 1956, she is the youngest of four brothers and a sister. She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1973.
Cindy started working in Austin at Providence Washington Ins. Co., in 1974 working her way from the bottom to the head of the underwriting department managing a large number of employees. She retired from the insurance company in April 1994. Shortly after her retirement, she joined the family business Barnard Tire and Wheel in Bastrop after it opened in 1987, taking care of the financials and working the front counter until retiring with her husband of 43 years in 2010.
Cindy had a passion for cooking and loved feeding people. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, camping, hunting, fishing, playing cards, scratching lotto and out of town trips to Louisiana for some gambling time. She was a member of the Paige Lion Club and the Old Red Rock Cemetery Committee.
She is reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Dennis Barnard; by her parents, Nelda and Robert Moore; brother, Bob Moore; nephew, David A. Moore II and sister-in-law Margaret Moore. She is survived by her siblings; Dennis Moore, Kathryn Davidson, Johnny R. Moore and wife Sharon, David A. Moore and wife Glenda; sons, Jimmy Ray Barnard and wife Jodi, Jeff Aaron Barnard and wife Dawn, William Eric Barnard and wife Elizabeth along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as Gram to her grandchildren, Joshua Lee Barnard, Addison Marie Barnard and Crystal Adele Barnard.
She is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff at Towers in Smithville and Divinity Hospice for her care.
