Christopher Kesling

Christopher Paul Kesling, age 51, of Bastrop was called from this life on June 21, 2018.
He was born February 8, 1967 in Toledo, Ohio to Orville "Bud" Paul Kesling and Jane Payden
Kesling. The Kesling family lived in several locations during Chris' childhood including Ohio, Kentucky and Texas. After earning his high school GED, he joined the National Guard where he graduated Top Ten in his class.

Chris learned land surveying from his friend, James Schuelke. He continued this profession for KBR at military bases in Iraq. His employer, Fugro Surveying, sent him to Malaysia to learn hydrographic surveying. Chris also worked for UTEC in Dubai. He also received extensive training in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
He met the love of his life, Carmela Gomez, in Taiwan. They were married in the Philippines within a year. Chris and Carmela made their home in Kabankalan City, Philippines.
Chris never met a stranger. He was known by many as "Daddy Chris" especially to Princess Gomez. He had a very generous heart, always putting others before himself. Chris shared love and laughter in simple ways. He gave candy, treats and toys to the children, teaching them to share with others and use manners. Chris encouraged and supported his family to finish their higher education.

Memorials and donations may be offered in Chris's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for Children. Chris and his family want to thank Dr. Cox, Dr. Pandey, the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and all of the wonderful friends and caregivers who tended to him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carmela; his parents Bud and Jane; sister Tracy Castaneda; uncles Carl and Richard Kesling and Don Payden; aunts Alice Kesling and Nancy Elliott and her husband Cleon; nieces and nephews: Jared McHaffie, Simon, Cassandra, Kiara, and Brooke Castaneda, Princess Gomez, great nieces Hazel and Sophia and cousins in Ohio.

Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church, 202 Hwy. 71 W, Bastrop, Texas. A Celebration of Life will begin at the
church at 11:00am.
