Charles Dustin Lockwood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 89.
Charles was born on June 25, 1935, in Holyoke, Colorado, to Dwight and Mildred Lockwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David Lockwood; his sister, Gwen Tucker Lockwood; and his son, Michael Lockwood.
Charles shared 71 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Norma Lockwood. Together they built a beautiful family, which was always at the center of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Robinett and husband Jeff; his son, Scott Lockwood; and daughter-in-law, Anita Lockwood.
Charles was a proud grandfather to Eric Lockwood and wife Donna; Todd Lockwood and wife Shannon; Jenna Borders and husband Ryan; Carie Behunin; Kelsey Groves; Holt Robinett and wife Judea; and Carly Robinett and husband Walter. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Micah Behunin, Rosie Behunin, Hudson Borders, Ella Borders, Grant Brinker, Evan Lockwood, Owen Lockwood, and Grayson Brinker.
He will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Charles Dustin Lockwood was the son of a frontier family, that moved westward from Nebraska to Colorado to seek a life as the Great Depression deepened. Chuck’s life was filled with challenges confronted and most often, overcome. He became a craftsman and a tradesman who mastered every aspect of construction, finally becoming a well respected building contractor.
He shared this knowledge with many individuals, including co-workers, his children, and inspiring his grandchildren to undertake their own lives with the same focus and tenacity that led to his success.
It seemed as though there was nothing he could not do. He confronted every challenge including the challenges to his health, with an attitude of ‘overcoming and moving beyond’ the challenge - until he could do so no more.
He departed this world, after living almost 90 years, with peaceful dignity. His wife of 71 years, Norma, was by his side, along with his daughter, Vickie.
Those of us who knew him will miss his wit, his smile, his wisdom (which was sometimes gentle and sometimes not), and his unwavering dedication to family and to his faith and to always doing the best job possible.
He endured much. He taught us much. He lived fully. He gave all he could. We will not forget.
