Carmen Perez Castillo

It is with deep sorrow and yet with hearts full of faith that we announce that Carmen Perez Castillo has gone to be with the Lord. Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend passed on May 6, 2025, at the age of 83, at the Heart Hospital in Austin, TX, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 25, 1942, in Houston, TX, Carmen lived a life marked by unwavering faith, boundless love, and quiet strength. She was a devoted member of Lakewood Church for over 30 years, where her gentle spirit shone brightly through her involvement as a prayer partner, nursery volunteer, and countless acts of selfless service. Carmen truly embodied the teachings of Christ, extending kindness and compassion to all she encountered. Carmen found immense joy in her family.

She was a wife to her late husband, Jesse Ayala Castillo Sr., for 61 years. She was a guiding light and constant source of support for her children: sons Richard Perez Castillo, Jesse Ayala Castillo Jr. (daughter-in-law Janie Castillo), and Lawrence Perez Castillo (daughter-in-law Esperanza Castillo).

She had 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter close to her heart and treasured every moment spent with them—sharing stories, wisdom, and her unwavering faith. She found solace and beauty in the simple things in life and always had a warm smile and an encouraging word for those around her. Her gentle presence and steadfast faith left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Carmen has been welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas from the hours or 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Followed by a memorial service to celebrate Carmen's life the following day at 10:00 AM.  Burial to follow at Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery.
